Crusader

The Crusader is the second-class advancement of the Swordsman, a holy knight who fuses shield mastery, spear combat and divine power. On Vortex Legends the Crusader is built around a three-branch specialization system inspired by the classic Protection, Retribution and Holy roles:

  • Bastion — the party's wall, soaking damage with shields, reflection and ranged mitigation while striking back with shield skills.
  • Inquisitor — melee damage through spear critical builds and Holy cross attacks.
  • Holy — party healing, damage redirection and protective blessings.

The branches are a matter of priority, not a cage: skill points can be spent freely, so hybrid builds remain fully playable. Crusaders advance into the Paladin after second class.

Specialization branches

Bastion

The Bastion Crusader is the protector of the group. It blocks and reflects physical blows, blunts ranged fire and turns its shield into both armor and weapon, generating threat with shield strikes rather than a separate taunt.

Auto Guard

Auto Guard
JobCrusader
TypeActive
TargetSelf
Max level10
SP cost12 → 30

The core of the Bastion branch. While active it gives a chance to fully block physical attacks, and on Vortex Legends it also empowers the Crusader's shield strikes, adding extra damage to Shield Charge, Shield Boomerang and the Paladin's Shield Chain. → Auto Guard

Shield Charge

Shield Charge
JobCrusader
TypeOffensive
TargetEnemy
ElementWeapon
Max level10
SP cost8 → 26
Range3 cells

A short charge that bashes an enemy with the shield, dealing damage that scales with the Crusader's defensive build and carrying a chance to stun. → Shield Charge

Shield Boomerang

Shield Boomerang
JobCrusader
TypeOffensive
TargetEnemy
ElementWeapon
Max level5
SP cost12
Range7 → 11 cells

Hurls the equipped shield at a distant foe. The heavier and more refined the shield, the harder the throw lands, giving the Bastion a reliable ranged opener. → Shield Boomerang

Reflect Shield

Reflect Shield
JobCrusader
TypeActive
TargetSelf
Max level10
SP cost35 → 80

A defensive stance that returns part of the melee physical damage the Crusader takes straight back to the attacker, punishing anything that tries to swarm the tank. → Reflect Shield

Defender

Defender
JobCrusader
TypeActive
TargetSelf
Max level5
SP cost30

A guarding stance that heavily reduces incoming long-ranged physical damage, at the cost of reduced movement and attack speed. The Bastion's answer to archers and gunners. → Defender

Defense Expert

Defense Expert
JobCrusader
TypePassive
Max level1

A passive mastery that grants bonus defense whenever a shield is equipped, reinforcing the whole Bastion kit. → Defense Expert

Continues at Paladin with Shield Chain and the protective capstone Shield Fortress.

Inquisitor

The Inquisitor Crusader deals melee damage along two independent lines: a spear critical build that leans on inherited Knight spear skills, and a Holy line that branches from Demon Bane into either a physical or a magical cross attack. The two Holy crosses rely on opposite stats and are not built together.

Spear Quicken

Spear Quicken
JobCrusader
TypeActive
TargetSelf
Max level10
SP cost24 → 60

A self-buff that quickens spear attacks, raising attack speed and critical rate while a spear is held. The backbone of the spear critical build. → Spear Quicken

Critical Stabs

Critical Stabs
JobCrusader
TypePassive
Max level10

A passive that sharpens the Knight's Quick Stabs spear thrust, adding critical rate and, at higher levels, an attack bonus on a kill and an extra hit. The deep payoff of the spear build. → Critical Stabs

Holy Cross

Holy Cross
JobCrusader
TypeOffensive
TargetEnemy
ElementHoly
Max level10
SP cost11 → 16
Range2 cells

The physical Holy line off Demon Bane. A cross-shaped strike that hits twice and can land a critical, excelling against Undead and Demon enemies. → Holy Cross

Grand Cross

Grand Cross
JobCrusader
TypeOffensive
TargetSelf (area)
ElementHoly
Max level10
SP cost37 → 100
Range9 cells

The magical Holy line off Demon Bane. Forms a Holy cross of energy around the caster that damages every nearby foe, drawing on both attack and magic power. It also hits the caster, so it pairs with self-healing. → Grand Cross

Continues at Paladin with Pressure (the magical line) and the Art of War aura, plus the spear passive Deadly Edge.

Holy

The Holy Crusader keeps allies alive and standing. It carries the Acolyte's Heal into second class, redirects damage away from fragile party members and hands out protective blessings. The branch opens through Faith and Providence.

Devotion

Devotion
JobCrusader
TypeActive
TargetAlly
Max level5
SP cost25
Range11 cells
Cast time3 sec

Links the Crusader to party members so that all damage meant for them is taken by the Crusader instead. The defining tool of a protector who guards the squishy back line. → Devotion

Providence

Providence
JobCrusader
TypeActive
TargetAlly
Max level5
SP cost30
Range9 cells
Cast time1 sec

Blesses an ally with extra defense and resistance to Demon enemies and Holy magic. The anti-magic blessing that anchors the Holy branch. → Providence

Purification

Purification
JobCrusader
TypeActive
TargetAlly
Max level1
SP cost15
Range9 cells

The Holy branch's cleanse, replacing the Acolyte's Cure. A single cast channels holy power to lift one harmful condition from an ally, clearing the most dangerous affliction first when several are present. → Purification

Continues at Paladin with the support capstone Beacon of Light and the self-sustain buff Sacred Plea.

Other skills

Faith

Faith
JobCrusader
TypePassive
Max level10

A passive that raises maximum HP and resistance to Holy attacks. Any build can take it for the survivability, and it is the gateway to Providence and the rest of the Holy branch. → Faith

Advancement

The Crusader advances to the Paladin. See Transcendent Classes.
