Shield Chain is an offensive physical skill of the Paladin class that hurls the equipped shield at a single enemy, landing a rapid chain of five strikes. It is the shield build's main damage skill, and its power comes from the shield itself rather than from a weapon.
Overview
Shield Chain delivers five quick shield blows to one target from a distance that grows with skill level. Because its damage is built from the shield's weight, refine level and the Paladin's VIT, it rewards the same tanky gear a Paladin already wants, letting a defensive build contribute real damage without swapping equipment.
Mechanics
The skill hits the target 5 times in a single cast. A shield must be equipped.
Damage formula: Damage per hit = 100 + 20 × SkillLv (% of ATK), where ATK = BaseATK + shield weight + 5 × Refine + VIT
Element: The strikes are forced to Neutral, so weapon elements and elemental endowments do not change them.
Accuracy: Shield Chain gains a flat +20 Hit, applied after the usual accuracy cap, which makes it land reliably even against evasive targets.
Other bonuses: The skill does not benefit from weapon mastery bonuses or elemental weapon endowments, and it is not amplified by Auto Guard.
Requirements
A shield must be equipped for the skill to be used.
Leveling
| Level | Damage per hit (% of ATK) | SP cost | Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 120% | 20 | 5 cells |
| 2 | 140% | 25 | 6 cells |
| 3 | 160% | 30 | 7 cells |
| 4 | 180% | 35 | 8 cells |
| 5 | 200% | 40 | 9 cells |
Notes
- Heavier and more refined shields directly raise Shield Chain's damage, so the shield choice matters as much as the weapon for a shield-focused Paladin.
- Since VIT feeds the damage as well, the stat investment that keeps the Paladin alive also feeds its offense.
- Range grows with level, so at higher ranks Shield Chain can open a fight before the enemy closes in.
