Sacrifice is an offensive self-buff skill of the Paladin class that turns the Paladin's own life force into unavoidable, defense-piercing blows. Once cast, it empowers the Paladin's next several attacks, each of which spends a share of the Paladin's maximum HP to strike far harder than a normal swing.
Overview
Sacrifice arms the Paladin for a short burst of self-damaging melee. After activation, the following attacks resolve as Sacrifice strikes that ignore the target's defense and cannot be dodged, but each one costs the Paladin a fixed portion of their own maximum HP. The buff has no timer: it waits until the empowered attacks are spent.
Mechanics
Casting Sacrifice empowers the Paladin's next 5 attacks. Each empowered strike resolves as a physical hit that ignores the target's defense and the target's Flee, so the listed damage lands every time.
Damage formula: Damage per strike = 120 + 20 × SkillLv (% of ATK)
HP cost: Each empowered strike costs the Paladin 6% of their own maximum HP, paid on every strike regardless of skill level.
Element: Empowered strikes are Neutral. While Providence is active on the Paladin, they become Holy instead; the element is checked on each individual strike, so it changes as soon as Providence expires between hits.
Other bonuses: Sacrifice does not benefit from weapon mastery bonuses or from elemental weapon endowments.
Leveling
| Level | Damage per strike (% of ATK) |
|---|---|
| 1 | 140% |
| 2 | 160% |
| 3 | 180% |
| 4 | 200% |
| 5 | 220% |
SP cost stays at 30 and the HP cost stays at 6% of maximum HP at every level, so raising the skill is a pure damage increase.
Notes
- Because the strikes ignore defense and Flee, Sacrifice is reliable against high-defense or high-dodge targets that normally blunt physical attacks.
- The self-damage is taken on every strike, so a Paladin should watch their HP through a Sacrifice window, especially outside a party with a healer.
- Pairing Sacrifice with Providence turns the burst Holy, which is a notable gain against undead and demon enemies.
