Swordsman is a first class on Vortex Legends, focused on front-line melee combat. Swordsmen equip swords and spears, wear heavy armor, and serve as damage dealers or off-tanks in early content. The job provides a foundation of physical offense and durability skills that carry forward into both advanced paths.
Swordsman advances to Knight (emphasizing swords and spears) or Crusader (emphasizing shields and holy power) at Job Level 40.
Sword Mastery
| Job | Swordsman |
|---|---|
| Type | Passive |
| Max level | 10 |
A passive mastery that directly increases physical damage with One-Handed and Two-Handed Swords, while also improving attack speed with those weapons. Maxing this skill is the standard first step for any sword-focused Swordsman.
Increase HP Recovery
| Job | Swordsman |
|---|---|
| Type | Passive |
| Max level | 10 |
Passively raises the rate at which HP regenerates naturally while standing still. Higher levels provide a more noticeable regen tick, useful for recovering between fights without consuming items. It also unlocks Provoke and Iron Skin.
Provoke
| Job | Swordsman |
|---|---|
| Type | Active (Support) |
| Target | Single enemy |
| Max level | 5 |
| SP cost | 7 |
| Range | 9 cells |
| Duration | 30 s |
| Requires | Increase HP Recovery Lv 2 |
A debuff skill that weakens a target's defenses while forcing monsters to shift their attention to the caster. Provoke is a cornerstone of the Swordsman's aggro and debuff toolkit, and a prerequisite for Endure.
→ Provoke
Endure
| Job | Swordsman |
|---|---|
| Type | Active (Support) |
| Target | Self |
| Max level | 5 |
| SP cost | 10 |
| Duration | 13 s → 37 s |
| Cooldown | 10 s |
| Requires | Provoke Lv 3 |
Allows the Swordsman to keep moving and attacking even while being struck, preventing the flinch animation that interrupts actions. The skill also bolsters magic defense for its duration. It expires either when enough hits land or the timer runs out.
→ Endure
Iron Skin
| Job | Swordsman |
|---|---|
| Type | Passive |
| Max level | 5 |
| Requires | Increase HP Recovery Lv 5 |
A passive that permanently raises VIT and builds resistance to Poison and Bleeding. It makes the Swordsman harder to whittle down through ailments, complementing the class's role as a durable frontliner.
Bash
| Job | Swordsman |
|---|---|
| Type | Active (Physical) |
| Target | Single enemy |
| Element | Weapon |
| Max level | 10 |
| SP cost | 5 → 10 |
| Range | Melee |
The Swordsman's main offensive skill: a single powerful melee strike that hits harder at each level and improves the chance to land the blow. With Fatal Blow learned, Bash gains a chance to Stun the target. The skill scales strongly and remains useful into advanced jobs.
→ Bash
Fatal Blow
| Job | Swordsman |
|---|---|
| Type | Passive |
| Max level | 5 |
| Requires | Bash Lv 7 |
A passive upgrade to Bash that adds a chance to Stun the target with each strike. Higher levels raise the stun probability. A natural complement for players who want Bash to serve as both a damage skill and a crowd-control tool.
Magnum Break
| Job | Swordsman |
|---|---|
| Type | Active (Physical) |
| Target | Self (area) |
| Element | Fire |
| Max level | 10 |
| SP cost | 20 |
| Cast delay | 2 s |
| Requires | Bash Lv 5 |
An area burst that sends out a wave of fire, striking all enemies in a wide radius around the caster. Beyond the immediate damage, it temporarily infuses a portion of subsequent attacks with the Fire element. Useful for clearing groups and applying elemental pressure.
Quick Stabs
| Job | Swordsman |
|---|---|
| Type | Active (Physical) |
| Target | Single enemy |
| Element | Weapon |
| Max level | 10 |
| SP cost | 7 → 12 |
| Range | 4 cells |
A two-hit spear skill that can reach targets at a short distance and is capable of landing critical hits. It requires a spear to use and serves as the spear-focused counterpart to Bash for players planning a Knight build. Both hits can critically strike independently.
Moving HP Recovery
| Job | Swordsman |
|---|---|
| Type | Passive |
| Max level | 1 |
A platinum skill that allows natural HP regeneration to continue even while the character is moving. Normally regeneration is paused during movement; this removes that restriction.
Auto Berserk
| Job | Swordsman |
|---|---|
| Type | Active (Support) |
| Target | Self |
| Max level | 1 |
| SP cost | 1 |
A platinum toggle that automatically applies a self-targeted Provoke effect, scaling its level with how much HP the user has lost. The more damage the Swordsman has taken, the stronger the self-provoke becomes, trading defense for increased attack power.
Advancement
Swordsman can advance to Knight or Crusader at Job Level 40.
