| Job | Swordsman |
|---|---|
| Type | Active (Support) |
| Target | Single enemy |
| Max level | 5 |
| SP cost | 7 |
| Range | 9 cells |
| Duration | 30 s |
| Cooldown | 1 s |
| Requires | Increase HP Recovery Lv 2 |
Overview
Provoke taunts a target, reducing its defenses and increasing its physical attack power for a limited time. On monsters, it also causes the target to focus its attacks on the caster. The skill works on both players and monsters, though the defense reduction applies differently depending on the target type (see Notes).
Mechanics
Provoke applies the following modifiers to the target for 30 seconds:
- Physical ATK increase: +5 × SkillLv %
- Physical DEF reduction: 10 × SkillLv %
Success chance:
(70 + 6 × SkillLv + Caster Base Level − Target Base Level) %
The success chance is uncapped and can exceed 100% against lower-level targets. It can also fall below effective range against significantly higher-level targets.
Provoke cannot be applied to Undead-element targets or those with immunity to status effects.
Leveling
| Level | ATK increase | DEF reduction | Base success chance |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | +5% | 10% | 76% |
| 2 | +10% | 20% | 82% |
| 3 | +15% | 30% | 88% |
| 4 | +20% | 40% | 94% |
| 5 | +25% | 50% | 100% |
(Success chances assume equal-level caster and target.)
Notes
- When cast on a monster, Provoke forces the monster to target the caster.
- The hard DEF reduction (from equipment/VIT defense) does not apply to players in PvP. Only the soft DEF (VIT-based) reduction applies to player targets. Both reductions apply to monsters.
- Provoke Lv 3 is required to unlock Endure.
- Provoke is also the basis for the Auto Berserk platinum skill, which applies it as a self-buff.
