Blade Stop
Overview
Blade Stop is a defensive counter. The Monk drops into a brief stance and, if a melee attack lands during that window, catches it: attacker and Monk are locked together, neither able to move, until the Monk breaks the hold with a strike of its own. Higher levels widen the reaction window, extend the lock, and unlock stronger ways to end it.
Mechanics
Casting the skill opens a short stance. Only a melee attack that arrives inside that window is caught.
- Stance window: 0.3 + 0.2 × SkillLv seconds
- Lock duration: 10 + 10 × SkillLv seconds
While the lock holds, both fighters are immobilised. The Monk can end it early by attacking, but only with the skills its Blade Stop level allows:
| Blade Stop level | Skills usable during the lock |
|---|---|
| 2 | Finger Offensive |
| 3 | Finger Offensive, Investigate |
| 4 | Finger Offensive, Investigate, Chain Combo |
| 5 | Finger Offensive, Investigate, Chain Combo, Asura Strike |
Each of those skills ends the lock as it resolves. The skill can be cast with almost any weapon type, not just knuckles.
Leveling
| Level | Stance window | Lock duration |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0.5 s | 20 s |
| 2 | 0.7 s | 30 s |
| 3 | 0.9 s | 40 s |
| 4 | 1.1 s | 50 s |
| 5 | 1.3 s | 60 s |
Notes
- Level 4 is the practical breakpoint for combo builds, since it is the first level that permits Chain Combo out of the lock.
- Level 5 turns the hold into an opening for Asura Strike, provided the requirements for that skill are already met.
- Ranged attacks do not trigger the catch.
