Palm Strike
Overview
Palm Strike is the Champion's open-hand shove: a single heavy blow that throws the target backwards and lands its damage a moment after the gesture. It costs no spirit spheres, which makes it the cheapest big hit in the Champion's kit, but it can only be used while Explosion Spirits is running, so it belongs to the burst window rather than to everyday attacking.
Mechanics
Damage formula: 200 + 100 × SkillLv (% of ATK), weapon property.
While the Champion fights barehanded or with knuckles, the strike ignores 50% of the target's defence, both the flat armour value and the reduction from stats. With any other weapon the full defence applies.
The target is knocked back 3 cells. The blow itself has no cast bar and is not affected by DEX; the damage and the knockback land roughly one second after the skill is used, because the timing follows the character's attack animation and therefore its attack speed.
Palm Strike cannot be cast unless Explosion Spirits is active on the Champion. It is not part of the combo chain: it neither continues a combo nor opens one.
Leveling
| Level | SP cost | Damage (% of ATK) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 2 | 300% |
| 2 | 4 | 400% |
| 3 | 6 | 500% |
| 4 | 8 | 600% |
| 5 | 10 | 700% |
Notes
- Spending no spirit spheres is the point of the skill: it lets the Champion keep the reserve intact for Asura Strike while still hitting hard during the frenzy.
- The knockback is useful to open distance before a long cast, and to push a target off a trap or an area effect.
- The defence break only triggers with fists or knuckles, so a Champion carrying another weapon loses a large part of the skill's value.
