Turn Undead is an offensive Priest skill that channels holy power against the undead, with a chance to destroy the target outright.
Overview
Turn Undead targets a single enemy and attempts to banish it instantly. The skill only has its banishing effect against Undead-property monsters. When the instant banish fails, or when used on a target that cannot be banished, it instead deals Holy-element magic damage. The skill ignores the target's defense.
Mechanics
On each cast the skill rolls a chance to instantly defeat an Undead-property target. The chance rises with skill level, the caster's LUK, INT and base level, and grows larger as the target's remaining HP gets lower. The chance is capped at 70%.
Success chance: Chance% = (40 × SkillLv + LUK + INT + BaseLv + 200 × (1 − HP ÷ MaxHP)) ÷ 10 (maximum 70%)
If the roll succeeds, the target is destroyed, equal to dealing damage equal to its current HP. If the roll fails, the skill deals Holy-element magic damage instead.
Damage formula (on failure): Damage = BaseLv + INT + 20 × SkillLv
Targets immune to status effects cannot be banished and only ever take the failure damage. The skill is most effective against weakened Undead targets, since lower remaining HP sharply raises the banish chance.
Leveling
| Level | SP cost | Base banish chance contribution | Failure damage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 20 | 4.0% | BaseLv + INT + 20 |
| 2 | 20 | 8.0% | BaseLv + INT + 40 |
| 3 | 20 | 12.0% | BaseLv + INT + 60 |
| 4 | 20 | 16.0% | BaseLv + INT + 80 |
| 5 | 20 | 20.0% | BaseLv + INT + 100 |
The base banish chance contribution shown is the portion from skill level alone; the final chance also adds LUK, INT, base level and the target's missing HP, up to the 70% cap.
Notes
Only Undead-property monsters can be banished. Against everything else the skill simply deals its failure damage. Because the banish chance scales with the target's missing HP, Turn Undead is strongest as a finisher on wounded undead.
