Foul Play is a close-range weapon strike that transfers every status ailment the Stalker is carrying onto the target, then clears those ailments from the Stalker. It is the payoff to Fake Ailment: fakes the Stalker never truly suffered are turned into real conditions on the victim. The attack hits harder when the Stalker launches it from Hiding.

Overview

Foul Play deals physical, weapon-element damage. Its damage is driven by the Stalker's level in the skill and by AGI, and it is boosted while the Stalker is Hiding. Importantly, the damage does not grow with the number of ailments transferred; the ailment transfer is a separate effect layered on top of the hit.

The skill can be cast while Hiding, and the cast cannot be interrupted by taking damage. Casting it ends the Stalker's own Hiding, in the same way Back Stab does.

Mechanics

On a successful hit, the Stalker's status ailments are moved onto the target and removed from the Stalker:

  • Conditions faked with Fake Ailment become the matching real ailment on the target (Poison, Confusion, Curse, Silence, Freezing or Burning), lasting for whatever time the fake had left.
  • Genuine ailments the Stalker is suffering are copied onto the target as-is, keeping their remaining duration, and then removed from the Stalker.

Only ailments are transferred; beneficial buffs stay with the Stalker.

Damage formula:

  • Normal: Damage = ( 100 + 100 × SkillLv + AGI )% of ATK
  • While Hiding: Damage = ( 100 + 150 × SkillLv + 2 × AGI )% of ATK

Leveling

Level Damage (normal) Damage (from Hiding) SP cost
1 (200 + AGI)% (250 + 2 × AGI)% 14
2 (300 + AGI)% (400 + 2 × AGI)% 18
3 (400 + AGI)% (550 + 2 × AGI)% 22
4 (500 + AGI)% (700 + 2 × AGI)% 26
5 (600 + AGI)% (850 + 2 × AGI)% 30

Notes

  • Synergy with Fake Ailment: load several different fakes with Fake Ailment, then release them all at once with Foul Play. Each fake becomes a real ailment on the target.
  • Casting from Hiding grants both the higher damage ratio and the stronger AGI scaling, so opening with Foul Play out of stealth is the strongest use of the skill.
  • The cast cannot be interrupted by incoming damage, so the strike will resolve even under fire.
  • Damage is fixed by level and AGI and is unaffected by how many ailments are being transferred.
