Sacrifice is an offensive self-buff skill of the Paladin class that turns the Paladin's own life force into raw, defense-piercing damage. When cast, it empowers the next several melee attacks, each of which spends the Paladin's own HP to strike for a fixed share of maximum HP.
Overview
Sacrifice arms the Paladin for a short burst of self-damaging melee. After activation the following normal attacks become Sacrifice strikes that ignore the target's defense and cannot miss, but each one costs the Paladin a fixed portion of their own maximum HP. It rewards a high-HP build, since both the damage dealt and the HP paid scale off maximum HP rather than weapon attack.
Mechanics
Casting Sacrifice empowers the Paladin's next 5 melee attacks. Each empowered strike resolves as a physical hit that ignores the target's defense and the target's Flee.
Damage formula: Damage per strike = 9% of the Paladin's Maximum HP
Effect: Each empowered strike costs the Paladin 9% of their own maximum HP, paid whether or not the strike connects. The buff lasts until all 5 strikes are spent.
Notes
- Because both the damage and the self-cost are tied to maximum HP, Sacrifice favors a tanky, high-HP Paladin who can afford to trade life for guaranteed defense-ignoring hits.
- The self-damage can be lethal if the Paladin's HP is low, so it is used with care in prolonged fights.
