Sandman (HT_SANDMAN) is a control trap of the Hunter class that puts enemies to Sleep.
Overview
Sandman is a status trap. When triggered it has a chance to inflict the Sleep status on enemies in its splash, leaving them helpless until they are struck or the effect ends.
Mechanics
The trap arms on the ground and triggers when an enemy steps onto it, applying Sleep to targets in a 5x5 splash for up to 30 seconds, then breaking. It deals no damage. Sleep immobilizes and silences the victim, but the first hit they take wakes them, so it pairs poorly with immediate follow-up damage and well with setup or escape.
Its throwing range can be extended by Trap Research. Each cast consumes one Trap.
Leveling
Sandman has 3 levels. Higher levels shorten how long the trap remains armed; the Sleep duration and SP cost stay constant.
| Level | Trap lifetime | Sleep | SP |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 150s | 30s | 12 |
| 2 | 120s | 30s | 12 |
| 3 | 90s | 30s | 12 |
Requirements
Consumes 1 Trap per cast.
Notes
Sandman is a crowd-control and escape tool; because any damage wakes a sleeping target, it is best used to disengage rather than to set up a kill. It requires Skid Trap level 1 to learn.
