Auto Counter
| Job | Knight |
|---|---|
| Type | Active (Physical) |
| Target | Self |
| Max level | 5 |
| SP cost | 3 – 5 |
| Duration | 1.2 – 2.0 s |
Overview
Auto Counter places the Knight in a reactive defensive stance for a short window. If an enemy attacks the Knight from the front during that window, the incoming hit is absorbed and the Knight immediately retaliates with a counter-hit. The counter-hit bypasses the target's physical defense, always lands as a critical hit, and deals increased damage compared to a normal strike. Higher ranks extend the window and increase the counter's power, especially with two-handed weapons.
Mechanics
Stance duration: 1 + 0.2 × SkillLv seconds (1.2 s at level 1, 2.0 s at level 5).
Counter-hit damage:
- One-handed weapons: (85 + 15 × SkillLv)% of ATK
* Level 1: 100% ATK, Level 5: 160% ATK
- Two-handed weapons (Two-Handed Sword, Two-Handed Spear, Two-Handed Axe): (70 + 30 × SkillLv)% of ATK
* Level 1: 100% ATK, Level 5: 220% ATK
The counter-hit ignores the target's physical DEF and is always a critical hit, bypassing the normal critical-hit calculation.
Hit rate: The counter-hit gains +20% of the Knight's base hit rate on top of the standard accuracy calculation.
Conditions and restrictions:
- Only counters attacks from enemies directly in front of the Knight.
- Cannot counter skill attacks, only normal physical hits.
- If no attack is received during the stance window, the skill expires with no effect.
Leveling
| Level | SP Cost | Duration | 1H Damage | 2H Damage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3 | 1.2 s | 100% ATK | 100% ATK |
| 2 | 3 | 1.4 s | 115% ATK | 130% ATK |
| 3 | 4 | 1.6 s | 130% ATK | 160% ATK |
| 4 | 4 | 1.8 s | 145% ATK | 190% ATK |
| 5 | 5 | 2.0 s | 160% ATK | 220% ATK |
Notes
The two-handed weapon damage formula scales much more steeply than the one-handed formula. At maximum rank the counter-hit with a two-handed weapon deals 220% ATK compared to 160% with a one-handed weapon, making the skill significantly more valuable in two-handed sword builds.
Auto Counter also serves as the prerequisite for Heavy Weapon Training, so most Knights will take at least one rank regardless of playstyle.
