Beast Companion
Beast Companion is the Hunter's system for taming wild beasts and bonding them for life. A tamed beast fights, follows and obeys orders at your side, keeping the appearance, stats and instincts of the wild monster it once was.
Overview
Unlike a Homunculus, a Beast Companion isn't grown or leveled — it's captured directly from the wild, fully formed. The beast you tame looks, moves and hits exactly like the monster you caught, and on top of that it takes on a combat style (its Archetype) that shapes how it fights alongside you.
Taming, summoning and commanding a beast is handled by the Hunter's Beast Master skill branch, starting with Beast Taming.
How it works
- Tame — cast Beast Taming on a compatible wild beast. The weaker the beast's remaining HP, the better your odds of a successful capture.
- Bond — a successful tame consumes the wild beast and grants you its Beast Bond, a keepsake item representing your captured companion. The bond can't be traded, dropped or sold.
- Summon — use Beast Call to bring the bonded beast onto the field. Only one beast can be active at a time.
- Command — use Beast Orders to set how it behaves: Passive (follow only), Defensive (assist you when attacked) or Offensive (hunt enemies on its own). Beast Bite commands it to strike a target directly.
- Recall or release — Beast Recall sends the beast back into its bond so you can summon it again later. Releasing it instead frees it permanently and consumes the bond.
A summoned beast can't be harmed by monsters or other players — it's a loyal, indestructible companion, not another target on the battlefield.
Families
Every capturable wild beast belongs to a Family. You may hold only one Beast Bond per family at a time, so choosing which beast to tame within a family matters.
