Shadow Spell binds one magic skill that the Stalker has copied through Plagiarism (or Reproduce) and prepares it for automatic casting. While the buff is active, the Stalker's weapon attacks have a chance to cast the bound spell for free, letting a melee or ranged Stalker weave stolen magic into ordinary fighting.

Overview

To use Shadow Spell the Stalker must first have a copied magic skill available. Casting it opens a selection list; choosing a skill locks that spell in and applies the Shadow Spell buff. From then on, each weapon attack rolls a chance to auto-cast the chosen spell at the attacked target (or at the target's location for ground-cast spells).

Mechanics

The bound spell is cast automatically on the Stalker's physical attacks, whether melee or ranged:

  • Auto-cast level: the bound spell fires at level 2 + SkillLv, capped at the level the Stalker has actually copied.
  • Chance to auto-cast: ( 30 − 2 × SkillLv )% on each weapon attack.
  • MATK bonus: while Shadow Spell is active, the Stalker gains +( 10 × SkillLv ) MATK, which strengthens the auto-cast spell.
  • Each auto-cast pays the copied spell's normal SP cost.

Note that higher levels trade a small amount of trigger chance for a higher auto-cast level and a larger MATK bonus. Pure support spells such as Holy Light and Magnus cannot be bound and will not auto-cast.

Leveling

Level Auto-cast level Chance MATK bonus Duration SP cost
1 3 28% +10 60 sec 40
2 4 26% +20 120 sec 45
3 5 24% +30 180 sec 50
4 6 22% +40 240 sec 55
5 7 20% +50 300 sec 60

The auto-cast level is always capped at the level of the spell the Stalker actually copied, so a spell learned at a lower level fires at that lower level.

Notes

  • Shadow Spell requires a magic skill copied via Plagiarism to be available; without one, it cannot be set.
  • The auto-cast can trigger even on an attack that misses.
  • Because trigger chance falls as level rises while auto-cast level and MATK climb, higher levels favor stronger but slightly less frequent procs.
