Wall of Fog lays down a thick patch of fog that both blinds and shields everyone caught inside it.
Overview
Wall of Fog conjures a fog cloud on the ground that warps and weakens the magic and ranged attacks aimed at anything inside it. Enemy skills frequently fail outright against units standing in the fog, the damage that does land is heavily mitigated, and normal ranged shots lose much of their accuracy. On top of that, enemies in the cloud are blinded. This makes it one of the Professor's strongest defensive tools for breaking up an enemy's offense or covering a retreat. The Professor and allies are not immune to the blind — anyone standing in the cloud can be affected.
Mechanics
The fog occupies a 5-cell-wide by 3-cell-tall patch of ground for 20 seconds. While the cloud is present it has several flat, level-independent effects on anyone standing in it:
- Enemy skills fail: any enemy-targeted offensive skill aimed at a unit inside the fog has a 75% chance to fail.
- Skill damage reduced: damage from skills that do land is reduced by 25%.
- Ranged weapon damage reduced: damage from ranged physical attacks is reduced by 75%.
- Accuracy reduced: normal (non-skill) ranged attacks suffer −50 Hit against units in the fog.
- Blind: enemies inside are blinded at 100% chance. The blind lasts 10 seconds and is continually refreshed for as long as the unit remains inside the cloud.
All of the above values are flat and do not change with skill level — the skill scales only in how high you can learn it, not in the strength of its effects.
A unit standing on a Deluge tile is immune to the fog's blind. If the fog is placed on top of a Deluge (or Suiton) tile, its own duration is doubled. The fog cloud is dispersed by Fire Rain.
Catalysts and requirements
Costs 25 SP to cast.
Notes
Wall of Fog is Earth-element ground magic and deals no damage of its own. Its value is purely defensive: it makes enemy skills miss, blunts the damage of the skills that connect, cripples ranged attackers, and blinds everyone inside. Position it on chokepoints or directly on an advancing group to shut down incoming magic and ranged offense.
