Beast Taming is the first skill of the Hunter Beast Master branch. It lets the Hunter capture a compatible wild beast as a lifelong companion.

Overview

Beast Taming opens a capture cursor that the Hunter aims at a wild beast. On success the beast is bound to the Hunter as a Beast Bond, an item kept in the inventory that can later be used to summon the companion at will.

Mechanics

Casting Beast Taming starts a short cast and opens the native capture targeting cursor. The Hunter then clicks the beast to attempt the capture. The lower the target beast's remaining HP, the higher the chance of a successful taming, so the usual approach is to weaken a beast first and then tame it.

On success the Hunter receives that beast's Beast Bond. The bond is the key the Beast Master branch revolves around: it is what Beast Call later uses to summon the actual companion.

Notes

Beast Taming is the gateway to the entire Beast Master branch and requires Falconry Mastery and Beast Bane level 3 first. It produces a Beast Bond rather than an immediate summon; the companion only enters the field through Beast Call.
