Adaptation to Circumstances lets a performing Bard or Dancer cut a song or dance short so they can react to a changing situation instead of being locked into a performance they no longer need.
Overview
Songs and dances commit the performer for a while, which is a problem when the fight shifts. Adaptation to Circumstances immediately ends the caster's own active performance, freeing them to move, retarget, or start a different song or dance. It affects only the caster and can be used while performing.
Mechanics
- Cancels the caster's currently active song or dance.
- Can only be used once the performance has been running for at least 3 seconds. Attempting it earlier fails.
- Only works while a song or dance is active; it has no effect otherwise.
Leveling
| Level | SP cost | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 | Cancels the caster's active song or dance |
Requirements
1 SP. No catalyst or weapon requirement. A song or dance must currently be active and must have been running for at least 3 seconds.
Notes
- The very low SP cost makes this a cheap way to reset a performance rather than waiting for it to expire on its own.
- Because it only ends the caster's own performance, it does not affect partners or party members.
