Spell Breaker forcibly interrupts a target's spell as it is being cast, and lets the Sage drain the wasted magical energy back as SP.
Overview
Spell Breaker is the Sage's anti-caster tool. It cancels the cast of a target that is in the middle of casting a spell. The Sage then absorbs all of the SP that the interrupted spell would have cost, and at higher levels can also drain a small amount of the target's HP.
Mechanics
On a successful interrupt, the target's current cast is cancelled and the SP that spell required is removed from the target. The Sage absorbs that full amount of SP. The skill also applies a chance to slow the target's future casting.
- SP drained / absorbed: the Sage recovers 100% of the cancelled spell's SP cost.
- HP siphon (Level 5 only): against players on PvP-type maps, or against monsters, the target loses 2% of its maximum HP.
- Slow Cast chance: (15 + 5 × SkillLv)% chance to inflict a casting-speed slow for 30 seconds. Against boss monsters the flat 15% portion is removed, leaving only a (5 × SkillLv)% chance.
The target must actually be casting for the interrupt to fire. Against a target that is immune to status effects, the interrupt fails with a (5 × SkillLv)% chance — that is, it still succeeds most of the time, succeeding (100 − 5 × SkillLv)% of the time.
If the target happens to have Magic Rod active, the attempt is turned around: 20% of the Sage's SP is transferred to that target, and the Sage is slowed (Slow Cast for 30 seconds) instead.
Leveling
| Level | SP absorbed | HP siphon | Slow Cast chance (normal / vs Boss) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | full cost | — | 20% / 5% |
| 2 | full cost | — | 25% / 10% |
| 3 | full cost | — | 30% / 15% |
| 4 | full cost | — | 35% / 20% |
| 5 | full cost | 2% max HP | 40% / 25% |
Notes
The target must actually be casting for the interrupt to do anything; against an idle target it has nothing to cancel.
