Plagiarism is the Rogue's signature theft of technique. Cast on another player, it copies one of their offensive skills for the Rogue's own use. The copy stays until a different skill is stolen.
Overview
Plagiarism targets another player and lets the Rogue learn one of the copyable offensive skills that player knows. The stolen skill is added to the Rogue's own list and can be used freely until Plagiarism copies a new one to replace it. Higher levels of Plagiarism allow the copied skill to be used at a higher level. This gives the Rogue enormous adaptability, borrowing whatever technique the situation calls for.
Mechanics
Casting Plagiarism on an eligible player opens a list of that player's copyable skills to choose from. The chosen skill is copied to the Rogue.
Copied level: the lower of the skill's own maximum level and your Plagiarism level
The target must be another player who is not a Rogue or Stalker. Only one skill can be held at a time; copying a new one replaces the previous copy. Plagiarism cannot copy a skill while an effect that preserves copied skills is active. Casting it costs 30 SP and one Red Gemstone.
Leveling
| Level | Highest level a copied skill can reach |
|---|---|
| 1 | 1 |
| 3 | 3 |
| 5 | 5 |
| 7 | 7 |
| 10 | 10 |
The copied skill is always further limited by its own maximum level.
Requirements
Each cast consumes one Red Gemstone. Requires Intimidate level 2.
Notes
Plagiarism lets a Rogue pick up an offensive tool it would otherwise lack, whether for leveling, dueling or filling a gap in a party. Because the copy persists until replaced, a Rogue can carry a favored borrowed skill for a long time.
