Team vs Team is a straightforward round-based Battleground. No flags, no bases, no special roles: just two teams fighting it out. It's part of the Battlegrounds system.
| Type | Battleground, round-based elimination |
|---|---|
| Teams | 2 |
| Objective | Win the most rounds |
| Format | Best of several rounds |
| Win condition | 5 rounds won |
| Match length | 15 minutes |
Overview
Team vs Team strips away every objective and gimmick found in the other Battlegrounds. There's nothing to capture, defend, or carry: the two teams simply fight, round after round, until one side has won enough rounds to take the match.
How it works
- Rounds. A match is played as a series of rounds. Each round has its own time limit; if the fight is still undecided when time runs out, that round ends in a draw and nobody scores it.
- Winning a round. A round is won by wiping out the opposing team.
- Winning the match. The first team to win 5 rounds takes the whole match, and everyone moves on to the rewards.
- The overall clock. Rounds keep coming until one side reaches 5 wins or the 15 minute match limit is reached. At that limit, the team with more round wins takes it.
Overtime
If both teams have won the same number of rounds when the match clock runs out, Team vs Team goes to overtime, which here simply means extra rounds.
The usual round countdown runs, and winning a round wins the match. A round that ends level is replayed for as long as there is overtime left. If the 5 minutes run out with the rounds still level, the match is decided on kills, starting with kills made during overtime.
Honor
Since there are no objectives to speak of, Honor in Team vs Team comes almost entirely from getting kills. This makes it one of the more straightforward modes for earning Honor through direct combat.
See Honor for how the wider system works, including diminishing returns, the AFK rule, and match-end bonuses.
