Overview

Riding lets the Knight cast the skill to mount or dismount a Peco Peco. A mounted Knight moves faster, can carry more weight, and certain weapons no longer suffer a size damage penalty against medium enemies. The tradeoff is a reduction in attack speed while mounted. This penalty can be partially or fully recovered by investing in Cavalry Mastery.

Mechanics

Riding is a single-rank platinum skill, unlocked when the character changes job to Knight or Crusader. Casting it toggles the Peco Peco mount on or off.

While mounted on a Peco Peco:

  • Movement speed: +25%
  • Maximum carry weight: +1000
  • Lances and Two-Handed Swords deal 100% damage against Medium-size enemies (the size penalty is removed)
  • ASPD: −30% (this penalty can be reduced or eliminated by Cavalry Mastery)

Riding does not affect damage modifiers against Small or Large enemies, only Medium.

Notes

The ASPD penalty is significant. Knights who use Riding should consider their investment in Cavalry Mastery:

  • Cavalry Mastery Lv 1: −20% ASPD remaining
  • Cavalry Mastery Lv 2: −10% ASPD remaining
  • Cavalry Mastery Lv 3: ASPD penalty fully negated

Knights who frequently use two-handed swords or lances in maps with Medium-size enemies benefit most from the size penalty removal.
